Euclid Beach Park is mostly a legend today, a historical curiosity. Since it closed following the 1969 season, you’d have to be in your 60s to feel first-hand nostalgia for the slow-paced, old-fashioned park, put out of business by bigger, flashier offerings at places like Cedar Point.
But for those who do remember outings there with their parents (or among even older people, with their friends) there’s the annual “Remembering the Sights and Sounds of Euclid Beach Park,” event, now in its 17th year.
Taking place at the park’s former location (16308 Lakeshore Blvd), now marked only by the old entrance archway, it’ll feature a walking tour of where all the beloved attractions once stood, along with photo posters of some of the rides, Euclid Beach Park memorabilia, Humphrey Popcorn Balls, Weber’s Premium Vintage Ice Cream and a car show called “Cars We Drove to Euclid Beach.” You’d have to be at least 69 now to claim that in the first person!
The event takes place rain or shine.
