Lost

As Cleveland has gotten cooler, what have we lost? Maybe not all that much.

It’s a stellar week for getting out in the cool air: our favorite time of the year. The kids are dressing up for Owls & Howls, the Boo-Tanical Bash and Pumpkin Palooza. Area musicians are rehearsing now for the upcoming holiday season, and this week you’ll catch them at The Shining music fest at the Ohio City Masonic Temple, and the Agora with Mushroomhead. Kris Morron kickstarts Tim Burton, TCO tackles Shostakovich and the Rock Hall honors The Stones. You can bet the rock stars will be in the CLE this week. Look for the dudes in the tight pants walking around looking lost.

Get lost in Lakewood on the Chocolate Walk, at NTC for Halloween of Hate, in Akron for the Zombie Walk. Get really lost with Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Severance, Monstermashing for affordable housing, and at Splatt3r F3st at the Chamber. Find yourself as Joe Baur finds inconsistencies in DCA’s new video, and Mansfield bemoans the way justice works, both behind and in front of the bench.

Find yourself in your neighborhood with our new mobile app and you may find yourself $20 better off, like Alisa Warshay. Recommend a cool event in our #Hashtag contest, and win free publicity. It’s funny how being lost can sometimes be a good thing. –Thomas Mulready

Corporate Diversity
What It Is and What It Isn’t

Lots of talk these days regarding diversity — and it’s not limited to corporations. Lots of organizations, including companies, universities and non-profits, now issue diversity mission statements and even allocate dedicated teams to ensure what happens within their brands.

But how many have any idea what it means?…

Downtown Cleveland Alliance (DCA) has released their yearly video montage promoting, you guessed it, Downtown Cleveland.

The result is a beautiful portrayal of the neighborhood. But, in reality, the video highlights inconsistencies in the work of DCA…

There’s little doubt Internet cafes, as they were being operated in Ohio (and in other states), were a pestilence, a rip-off, and society is better off without them.

However, the manner in which they were run out of Ohio on a rail should give pause to everyone who loves liberty, expects probity from government, and respects fair play for all..

MANSFIELD: Judge Angela Stokes Should Temporarily Step Off The Bench She is the worst judge on the bench in cleveland. She needs to do something, she rude, mean and her sentences are down right assinine…..
Read the comment from Sherrilynn Plona here

Dear Sir, I was recently thrown out of Angela Stokes’s courtroom. I am a 56 years old black woman who had accompanied her 19 year old son to court for a traffic ticket….

Downtown Cleveland Alliance’s Inconsistent Message Joe – having lived here all my life (which is probably at least twice as long as yours) the pace is actually faster than ever before. Also, have you been to many other large cities lately?….
Read the comment from Bob Yanega here

Bob seems way off. Pittsburgh and Boston are thriving cities, mostly because they’re so easy for people to get around (people being more important than outsiders driving through with cars)….

Cleveland Needs A Bold Transportation Plan Thanks so much for writing this article. In my opinion too much attention is placed on the Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm suburban commuter and not enough on the “off peak” (as RTA’s calls It) ridership which if I’m not mistaken makes up about 40 percent of total ridership….
Read the comment from Leesa Priah here

Great article, Joe. Perhaps providing more and better transportation alternatives should be the role for a renewal of the sin tax?…
Read the comment from Ken Prendergast here

Where to begin, Joe? The only thing that can rid a region of a car culture is a majority of its citizens deciding to change their lifestyles. Does any rational person think that’s on the immediate horizon for Northeast Ohio?…
Read the comment from John Ettorre here

Believe me it would be NICE, $saving NOT to have to drive all over the place, etc. and be able to just walk downstairs, etc. and have it all there but hey…
