Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I clearly recall Mrs. Greenspan, my jr. high bus driver, picking up the still sleepy pre-teens from the manicured corners, retaining her sanity by keeping her old-school transistor radio tuned to XRT, 93.1FM. The morning DJ of the time, Terri Hemmert, knew how to awaken the senses by combining her passion of great music, which includes her Beatles and Bryan Ferry obsessions, with her amazing ability to select just the right combination of songs for a musically sophisticated city.
By the time I arrived in Cleveland in 2003, the home of rock and roll, I was excited to be living just minutes from the Rock Hall and even spent my night before the critical job interview walking the museum vs. preparing for questions.
Then, someone asked me if I heard of this new station called V107.3 FM. I said, “No,” and the next day, upon this recommendation, turned it on in my car. I came. I heard. I liked. And I kept listening. Setting my alarm clock to 107.3FM and giving it its own button in my VW, the station is now a staple of my day. And every person in Cleveland I know who appreciates quality music has heard me brag about it… Read more from Alex Sukhoy here

Carolyn Hester may be the most famous musician you’ve never heard of. She was, essentially, the first female artist to become well known among the then-new generation of folk singers in the early ’60s, before Joan Baez and Judy Collins, both of whom eventually became better known than she.
Hester was instrumental (so to speak) in getting Bob Dylan signed to Columbia Records, when she brought the not-well-known Dylan into the studio to play harmonica on one of her albums and introduced him to the legendary Columbia producer and A&R man John Hammond.
She was asked to form a trio with Peter Yarrow and Noel (Paul) Stookey, but declined, so when Mary Travers joined, instead, Peter, Paul & Mary was born. (That name sounded better than Peter, Noel & Carolyn, anyway.)
So why is all of the significant? Because Carolyn Hester is performing in Cleveland this week, along with other folk legends, as part of the La Cave Reunion Festival, which takes place at Wilbert’s Food & Music on Fri 6/25 and Sat 6/26, starting at 6:30 each night… Read more from David Budin here
As the guessing game in regards to whether LeBron stays or goes kicks into high gear, I’ve come up with a sure-fire way of keeping the superstar in town.
While discussing the issue with my friend Rick Ferrell, super-fan and super downtown booster, it hit me: Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert should force the league to change the rules and then quit trying to find the right coach for the team and hire LeBron as the NBA’s youngest ever player/coach.
Go ahead – get your laugh on, and then read on as I explain why this idea makes all of the sense in the world… Read this story from Mansfield Frazier here

A Father’s Day Tribute Gripping story Mansfield, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It made me question the variety of ways that a boy can enter manhood. In relation to your story, I wondered if the opposite scenario could also yield the effect of casting a boy into maturity. There have been times in my life where choosing the route of potentially violent confrontation would have only yielded injury and perpetuated the stereotype of the “violent black man”. So in these situations I have chosen…
