Like all theaters, Cleveland’s Talespinner Children’s Theatre has cut way back on its programming in the last year. They’ve announced that the first half of 2021 will be devoted to a digital “mini-season” title Season 9.5. It will signal a change in the way they book seasons from the calendar year to a more typical fall-to-spring season.
Season 9.5 kicks off this week with The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus (In Your Home), penned by much-produced Cleveland playwright Eric Coble. It follows the “mystical journey” of a girl named Sheila and her friends where they encounter a pick-up truck-driving coyote in a cowboy hat who steals their orange traffic cone from their junk-pile fortress group of friends’ orange traffic cone, the crowning glory of their dirt-road junk-pile fortress, leading them on more adventure.
The show runs for two weekends with 7pm performances on Fridays and Saturdays and 3pm performances on Saturdays and Sundays. To buy tickets, go here.
