Northeast Ohio fashion designer Valerie Mayen has hit the ground running the new space in Gordon Square where she recently relocated her Yellowcake Shop. She had a pre-opening party, a grand opening “Barbie” party and now, this weekend she’s bringing back her “HI, Fashion” event, where she showcases other entrepreneurs and hosts activities around creativity and sustainability.
One of the centerpieces of the event is a large-scale clothing swap, where attendees can bring gently worn (or never worn) garments they’re just not into anymore and trade them for something new. There’ll be onsite seamstresses to make minor alterations and repairs.
You can also design a unique upcycled T-shirt or sweatshirt, have yourself drawn as a fashion illustration, take a natural dyeing tutorial and learn mending techniques so you can do it yourself at home.
There’ll also be free coffee and both sweet and savory treats. The event is free; register here.
