Rock Hall Live! Summer Kicks Off with Oregon Space Trail of Doom

Thu 7/1 @ 8-10:30PM

Last year, the Rock Hall was able to cobble together some scaled-down summer programming taking place outdoors on its plaza. This summer, its usual summer programming is back with a roar with weekly live concerts featuring both local artists and national touring acts, both free and ticketed concerts. Thursdays will be devoted to free concerts by local artists, while Fridays will feature touring acts with tickets ranging from $15-$20, or $35-$40 if you want to also tour the Rock Hall before the show.

So who’s playing? To get the full schedule of summer events at the Rock Hall, go to rockhall.com/events.

It kicks off Thursday July 1 @ 6-8PM with two sides of the same coin: local band(s) Oregon Space Trail of Doom and Oregon Space Trail of Jazz. They describe themselves thusly: “In a land that never was, housed four people that never were. Drifting on the light waves of ghost stars, these cosmic cowboys have but one intention: to create a musical score for the impending interstellar apocalypse.”

Relatively young as a band — together with the current lineup of Nolan Cavano and Ryan Fletterick on guitars and vocals, Nick Yanasko on bass and Tony Kazel on drums only about three years — the group is not nearly as bludgeoning as their name suggests. They play a sort of poppy hard rock that contains a lot of dynamics.

The concert, taking place on the Rock Hall’s Plaza Stage, is free. RSVP here. Food and drink will be available for purchase outside.
