So did you stay up late last night to watch the total lunar eclipse? And now you’ve got eclipse fever again?
If so, head over to the Hudson Library where science journalist/author David Baron will talk about the solar eclipse of 1878. In his book American Eclipse: A Nation’s Epic Race to Catch the Shadow of the Moon and Win the Glory of the World, he wrote about three individuals who raced to the Rocky Mountains in order to view it. You can be sure their journey was a lot more arduous than wherever you went to see the eclipse of August 2017.
Baron himself is an “umbraphile” (eclipse lover) who has seen six total solar eclipses and traveled through the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia to do so. He stoked excitement for the 2017 with his popular TEDx talk which you can view here.
