Christopher Mason’s artistic practice crosses the boundary between photography and printmaking. As the recipient of the Cleveland Print Room’s Stephen Bivens Fellowship for 2022-23, honoring a beloved film photographer who taught at the CPR, he drew on both to expand his vision of the city.
So, given his reach into printmaking, it feels fitting that the results of his residency are going on view at printmaking nonprofit, Zygote Press, in a show titled Echoes of Innocence: Navigating Landscapes Through Abstract Repetition.
“Like a silent power, my work speaks in enigmatic tones, impressing through brevity,” says Mason. “Childhood memories bloom, guiding my creative journey. The art of youth’s joy and discovery emerges in blurred motion, textured grain, abstract repetition, and atypical compositions. Urban rhythms pulse, mirroring society’s urgency.”
The show closes Saturday November 11, when Mason will be at the gallery giving an artist talk and answering questions about his work. It’s free and open to all.
