Sustainable Cleveland 2019 Moves Into a New Decade

The decade-long Sustainable Cleveland 2019 effort, which began in 2009, came to its conclusion at last year’s fall summit where more than 500 participants from businesses, environmental and community organizations and neighborhood groups, as well as citizen-activists came together to look at what had been accomplished in ten years and explore avenues for continuing their efforts to make Cleveland healthier and more resilient.

Each year was dedicated to a different aspect of sustainable growth, including such areas as clean water, energy efficiency, zero waste, sustainable transportation and local foods. Each produced working groups and projects, many of which are ongoing.

And Sustainable Cleveland has already announced that it will host a 2020 Summit October 14-15, with panel discussions and sustainability experts on a variety of topics. But this year’s summit, looking into the fall with a dose of realism will be all virtual, sadly eliminating one of the benefits of these events — meeting like-minded people to share ideas and energy and possible partner up with. Sigh. Stay tuned to their website for registration information here.

In the meantime you can find a working group or other project to participate in here.
