Vocalist Olivia Van Goor is a native of Hudson where she first explored her musical proclivities playing piano, performing in musicals and singing in choirs before testing her wings as a solo vocalist singing a variety of genres. But it was jazz that drew her in and she sang in jazz ensembles while at Granville, Ohio’s Denison University, where she graduated in 2019 with a degree in music and economics.

She’s now a proud resident of the Detroit area, where she’s lived for the past seven years and become active in the jazz scene. She’s released a pair of albums, 2021’s When the Shadows Fall and 2023’s Don’t Be Mad At Me, and performed extensively around the Great Lakes region. in August of 2023. She’s also devoted an Anita O’Day tribute show and a show called “Duets” with vocalist/bassist Reuben Stump featuring a history of jazz vocal duets.

When she comes to the BOP STOP for an evening of romantic jazz for Valentine’s Day, she’ll be making her debut as a band leader. And what a band! It features some of northeast Ohio’s best younger jazz musicians: drummer Zaire Darden, pianist Theron Brown and trumpeter Tommy Lehman, along with Detroit bassist Matt Ryan.

Bring your sweetie and snuggle to love songs while enjoying a glass or two of wine at the BOP STOP. Get tickets here.
