While there are so many special holiday events in and around town it’s hard to keep up, maybe you’ll like to get out in the country and bask in a small town Christmas. Two of the area’s most picturesque small towns are hosting festive holiday walks.

On Thursday evening, Peninsula, located between Cleveland and Akron, will hold its candlelight walk and community Christmas bazaar. Put on your Christmas sweater and join the locals to walk down the luminaria-lined Main Street as shops, restaurants, churches and organizations offer food, drinks, shopping, music and special holiday activities. You’ll even run into historical costumed characters from Hale Farm & Village on the street. The official tree-lighting is at 6pm on the Bronson Church green. It’s free and all are welcome.

If that’s not enough holiday cheer for you, head over to nearby Hudson on Sunday afternoon for the Hudson Holiday Walk. Businesses all around the city center will be gussied up and offering refreshments and special activities. You can meet authors at Learned Owl Books, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, meet Santa and his elves, and stop at the hot cocoa warm-up station for a cup of holiday cheer.
