Fri 5/4 @ 9PM
Pittsburgh quartet the Clarks made their debut in the late 80s and became part of the ’90s wave of “college rock,” radio-friendly energetic, tuneful pop rock popular on college campuses and radio. They enjoyed their biggest successful in the early-mid ’90s when so-called “alternative” (not clear to what) was on the rise and they were signed to a major label for a hot minute.
They never really caught the brass ring of success, but they toured extensively regionally and made many visits to Cleveland. And they’ve stayed the course with the same lineup, and now ten studio albums to their credit. Their eleventh, Madly in Love at the End of the World, is about to be released. The describe it as “a lively ride down a rural lane, laced with love, mourning, and questions about where it all goes from here.”
You can hear some of the new tunes (along with old favorites) when they return to the Grog Shop. Cleveland piano trio Return of Simple featuring Rob Kovacs opens.
Tickets are $16 in advance, $18 at the door.
