Dobama Theatre Opens Play About the Lingering Impacts of Childhood

Fri 10/6-Sun 10/29

Cleveland Heights’ little adventurous Dobama Theatre continues its season with the regional premiere of Bess Wohl’s 2018 play Make Believe, directed by Dobama’s artistic director Nathan Motta.

“The ghosts of childhood never disappear,” the synopsis tells us. “In the attic of one family’s home, four young siblings recreate their everyday lives in a game of make-believe. Meanwhile, the world beneath them holds a more ominous reality. Wohl’s play is a moving meditation on how childhood events can continue to haunt us in our adult lives.”

The play features two sets of actors — adults and children — playing the same characters 30 years apart.
