Akron alt-country ensemble the Shootouts is having a great year. They released their third album Stampede in late February, made their debut at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry around the same time, followed by a second appearance there in July, played an official showcase at Austin’s SXSW music conference as well as Ray Benson’s annual Birthday bash there in March (Benson, long-time leader of Asleep at the Wheel, also co-produced the new album), and performed at Nashville’s AmericanaFest in September. And the album’s top ten performance on the Americana and alt-country charts radio chart gave them new touring opportunities, ranging from New York, New England and Washington D.C. to Salt Lake City.
It’s no surprise that a return to Northeast Ohio finds them performing at Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn, a mecca for artists performing rootsy music. They’ll be bringing their country and rock-infused music there this weekend. Get tickets here.
As usual you can bring your cooler and picnic and make an evening of it out in the rural fresh air around the barn.
