City Club Forum Explores the Future of American Theater

Last week we shared with you that a consortium of five small-to-midsized American theaters had been collaborating and sharing resources since last year to help grow their audiences, reach out to new communities and create new work, and that they had recently been awarded a $2.5 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for their work, to be divided equally among them. And one of these theaters was Cleveland’s adventurous and diverse Cleveland Public Theatre.

This week the City Club is hosting a forum called Future for American Theater at which you can learn more about this grant and what type of work it will fuel in these theaters. The panel will include Raymond Bobgan, executive artistic director of Cleveland Public Theatre; Reginald L. Douglas, artistic director of Washington D.C.’s Mosaic Theater, another of the theaters in the consortium; and program officer Stephanie Ybarra from the Mellon Foundation. Jennifer Coleman, Senior Program Director for the Arts at Cleveland’s George G11und Foundation, moderates.

The program will be livestreamed starting at noon. If you have questions, you can tweet @TheCityClub or text 330-541-5794.
