Learn Burlesque History Taught Online by Cleveland Burlesque Star

Wed 2/16 @ 7PM

Any northeast Ohioan with even a passing knowledge of the burlesque scene knows Bella Sin, the area’s most accomplished burlesque performer and most active burlesque promoter, founder of Cleveland’s longest-running burlesque troupe, Cleveland Burlesque (formerly Le Femme Mystique), and the Ohio Burlesque Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary at the Beachland this coming August.

But in addition to all that (plus handmaking gorgeous costumes and developing a cosmetic line and tireless volunteer work for the LGBTQ+ community), Sin is an avid student of burlesque history, with probably PhD-level knowledge of the subject, acquired through diligent independent study.

Sin will now share that knowledge with interested parties via a six-week Zoom course on burlesque history, covering both classic burlesque and the neo-burlesque revival, with a focus on performers of color. The class will include information (from experience!) on how to become your own researcher without having to pay tuition.

Cost of the course is $100; classes take places each Wednesday starting February 16 @ 7pm. The class will also have a pre-recorded option and be available in English and Spanish, both of which the Mexican-born performer speaks fluently. To register go here.
