For a guy who moved out of his hometown to the greener pastures of New York, jazz trumpet player Dominick Farinacci is sure around Cleveland a lot. Of course, he’s deeply involved with Tri-C JazzFest, giving back to the program that gave him his rocket launcher (He was part of its High School All-Stars program when he met Wynton Marsalis, who heard him and recommended he apply for the Juilliard School’s first Jazz Studies class).

He’s back again for special Valentine’s Day program, sponsored by Tri-C JazzFest. And, as he often does, he’s giving some exposure to a younger artist. The concert will feature 26-year-old New York-based jazz vocalist Veronica Swift, who’s an old pro already. Daughter of two jazz musicians, she toured with them, recorded her first album at 9, her second at 11, and played major jazz festivals with her teen ensemble, where she played trumpet.

She’ll join Farinacci and his band — pianist Jonathan Lewis, bassist Aidan Plank and drummer Jim Rupp — as well as another featured vocalist, a veteran well known to Clevelanders, Evelyn Wright, for a concert of romantic music streamed live from the LiPuma Center from Creative Arts at Tri-C.

Tickets are $30. Snuggle up on your sofa and enjoy!
