Invent

If there’s one thing we do around here in the CLE, besides listen to good music, drink good beer and eat some damn good food, is invent stuff. It’s in our DNA. On the coasts they’re good at financing, marketing, advertising and digitizing. We can do those things pretty well, too, but what we’re really good at is inventing stuff.

So it’s about time we celebrate our maker heritage with the Mini Maker Faire at CPL this week, organized with their partners at Ingenuity. We go behind the scenes with Beachland co-founder Cindy Barber, who invented an entire cool neighborhood 13 years ago. Make your own fun with our picks for every day of the upcoming week.

We invented Cleveland’s coolest mobile app, which you can download for free, which is what Jacqueline Reasor did, and she won $20! Invent that. –Thomas Mulready

Invent Much?
Cleveland Mini Maker Faire Wants Your Ideas

The thrill of taking things apart, putting things together, and sharing your understanding so that anyone else can do it, too, drives the Cleveland Mini Maker Faire.

This collaboration between Ingenuity Fest and the Cleveland Public Library follows the spirit of Maker Faires conducted by MAKE Magazine.

If you want to share what and how you create, sign up to run a presentation or workshop. The call for entries ends Mon 2/25

CD REVIEW: The Sirens
Chris Potter

Chris Potter has been a major player on the modern jazz scene since the late ’80s, when he was an 18-year-old prodigy playing in bebop bands.

Since that time he has done it all, playing on Steely Dan releases; backing Dave Holland on the 2002 Grammy winner What Goes Around; and performing with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield…
