Vocalist/guitarist Moises Borges has been a Clevelander for decades, but his music is drenched in the sounds of his native Bahia, Brazil. Performing as a solo artist or with his group, his sets are filled with Brazilian jazz, bossa nova, samba and Brazilian folk rhythms.
When he performs this weekend at Market Garden Brewery, he’ll have some other topnotch local talent with him. On keyboards, he’ll have the area’s most skilled Latin jazz pianist Jackie Warren, generally seen around town with Sammy DeLeon. And he’ll share vocalist with teenage jazz/pop vocalist Ava Preston, who’s built a reputation performing around the area for years since she was just 13, inspired by vocalists ranging from Nina Simone and Billie Holiday to Diana Krall and Alanis Morrisette.
They’ll be ably backed by the seasoned rhythm section of bassist Gary Aprile and drummer Liam Smith.
