Through Sun 1/1/17 @ noon-5PM
Here’s one more thing to do over the seems-like-a-year-to-parents winter school break. Head out to the Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Nature Center in Kirtland for its Wild Days of Winter.
It’s created a life-sized game board “Winter Wonderland” inside the center (so you can enjoy the magical beauty of winter without freezing your toes). As you move from space to space, you’ll travel through the seasons and learn interesting facts about nature.
For kids with short attention spans, there’ll be plenty to do: crafts to take home, activity pages to complete, and scavenger hunts inside and out. The Nature Center has lots of exhibits to check out too including its animal rehabilitation center where you can see real, live wild animals. Hardier family members can rent snowshoes to explore the park or just go out on foot and hike the 8.5 miles of trails. Hot and cold beverages are available and the Nature Shop will be open for a little impulse shopping.
Wild Days of Winter is open every day through Sun 1/1 from noon-5pm except Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It’s free.
