Local Music Scene Veterans Offer Dynamic Glam & Pop at Jilly’s

Fri 11/17 @ 7:30PM

Tonight at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron you can catch two bands comprising some of the area’s most dynamic veteran musicians, who proudly show off their lengthy experience as an asset.

There’s Vanity Crash who mingle glam/pop originals with a repertoire of tunes by their influences such as David Bowie, T. Rex, Mott the Hoople and the Velvet Underground, while offering a show that gets the audience engaged to the max. They’ll be previewing some material from their upcoming sixth album.

The newly formed band The Crones features five women over 50, one of whom is Tracy Thomas, who was the darling of Akron’s new wave scene in the early 80s when she fronted Unit 5.  Their new wave/pop repertoire reflects nostalgia for that colorful, tuneful era, with tunes by Blondie, the B-52s and the Pretenders, among others.
