Wed 2/24-Sun 2/28
The 10th annual edition of the Short. Sweet. Film Fest, devoted to short films of all types, should have been a time to gather at a place such as the Alex Theatre at the 9, where I’s previously been held, enjoy some drinks and some socializing and then share an evening of film together. Ah well … the festival goes on anyway.
This year, like many schools, it will be a “hybrid” event. There’ll be an online
on demand” component that this year is free thanks to a sponsor, Launchpad Productions. It’ll feature more than 150 short films, table readings of screenplays and Q&As with filmmakers. Though the films may be short, the range of topics and styles is large: horror, comedy, animation, drama, LGBTQ, music videos, experimental films, documentaries, fan fiction, local and international films, even student films. You can access it all here.
There will also be very limited in-person screenings at the Alex Theatre. Masks are required and temperatures will be taken. Buy tickets here.
They’ll also be celebrating the ten best films of the last ten years in both versions. Find more information at shortsweetfilmfest.com.
