Sat 2/17 @ 9PM-2AM
The generation that came of musical age in the 80s is having a big nostalgic moment, with bands like The Cure, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran drawing hordes of ecstatic concertgoers, now in their 50s, recalling the era when they sported lots of black: clothing, lipstick, eyeliner, hair dye.
The Dark Wave Dance Cave evening — “Lovecat: A Cure-Themed Valentine’s Goth Dance Party” — at the Winchester should appeal to that crowd, as well as those too young to have lived it but have romantic ideas about what it must’ve been like. From 9-10pm, DJ Robert Stiff will spin an all-Cure set, followed from 10pm-2am by sets from DJs Mimi Dromette and Matthew Darkstar that will explore a wider range of music from that era and in related styles including darkwave, New Wave, post-punk, synth pop and goth.
Admission is just $7 at the door, $5 in advance.
