Brazilian Guitarist Diego Figueiredo Plays Two NE Ohio Shows

Sat 7/29 @ 7:30PM

Sun 7/30 @ 7PM

Brazilian guitarist Diego Figueiredo is well known to area audience from his appearances over the years at venues such as Nighttown and events such as the Tri-C JazzFest and the Lakeland Jazz Fest, both performing solo or collaborating with artists such as Cyrille Aimée, Chuchito Valdes, Stanley Jordan or Ken Peplowski.

The 43-year-old musician is based in Franca, Brazil, but he has won international acclaim for his music, which combines jazz and classical music (he’s conservatory trained) with influences from his native country. He’s released more than two dozen albums, including 2021’s Antarctica, which offered his musical takes on his travels, including a cruise to Antarctica, certainly a very different environment from Brazil!

Nighttown is closed for remodeling and uncertainty as to whether jazz shows will return there, Jim Wadsworth, formerly Nighttown’s music booker, is presenting his artist at other venues. This weekend he’s got Figueiredo doing two shows in northeast Ohio: on Saturday at Oberlin’s Mill on Main Street (95 S. Main Street) and on Sunday at Markey Garden Brewery in Ohio City. His opening act in Oberlin is another native Brazilian, guitarist/vocalist Moises Borges, born in Bahia but a Cleveland resident for many years who brings Brazilian sounds to local audiences year-round.
