Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Emanuela Friscioni now live in Cleveland Heights, but the two Italian pianists met in their home country where they began playing together (as well as being a couple) more than two decades ago. They now perform across the U.S. and Europe in doing twin-piano recitals and performing with orchestra.
Their first introduction to Cleveland came in 1999 when Pompa-Baldi won the prestigious Cleveland International Piano Competition. While he was fulfilling his obligations around that win, the couple decided to stay here permanently. He’s now Distinguished Professor of Piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music, while juried competition and giving master classes all over the world. Friscioni, also a world-class performer, is currently the director of the Creative Arts Academy at Cuyahoga Community College and artistic director of the Tri-C classical piano series. Both are Steinway artists.
The two will perform at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium as part of Tri-C Presents’ classic piano series. It’s free.
