Friends Organize a Cash Mob for Waterloo’s Music Saves

Vinyl

Sat 9/3 @ noon-3PM

Music Saves was one of the first businesses to plant its stakes on Waterloo Road after the Beachland Ballroom blazed the trail. Opened in 2004, it’s been a mainstay as other businesses have come and gone, and now are mostly coming. Owner Melanie Hersh offers an eclectic mix of indie rock — both contemporary and key influencers, along with books, magazines and posters, presents cozy in-store concerts and has a store cat Vinyl to love up.

It’s been a tough summer for her despite some happy news (she’s getting married on Saturday!) She’s had health issues and so has one of her beloved cats. And retail business isn’t that great during the summer.

So some of her friends are rallying around and organizing a cash mob for her, taking place Sat 9/3 @ noon-3pm. Come in and buy something. The goal is to spend $20 but even if you just buy one of those cute little cat stickers or buttons she has, that will help. Melanie won’t be there, of course (did we mention she’s getting married?), but you can leave a little note telling her how much you appreciate what she’s done for the Waterloo Arts District and contribute to giving her a pleasant surprise when she gets back to the store.

Can’t make it Saturday? Stop in Friday evening during the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo.
