Graphic Arts & Illustrators Tackle Serious Themes in Yards Project Show

Art by Will Wilson

Thu 5/5 @ 5:30-8PM

The next show open at the Yard Project, located in the lobby of Worthington Yards Apartment in the Warehouse District, is called Illustrious Gravitas. It’s an oblique reference to how many graphic artists and illustrators combine a playful, even humorous quality, with an underlying seriousness, using styles associated with cartoons and illustrations to address serious, even dark, issues.

“Through an empathic lens, the artists in Illustrious Gravitas help us cope with and understand the struggles and heartaches and the war of attrition that life in most recent years surely presents,” says the show’s artistic statement.

Particpating artists include Sequoia Bostick, Morgan Bukovec, Shyvonne Coleman, Benji Diaz, Angela Oster, Nicolas Nocera, Ben Krampitz, Christopher Smith,  Will Wilson, Justin Michael Will and Aaron Williams.

The show opens with a free, public reception on Thursday May 5.
