Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Opens for the Season

Fri 4/1 @ 10AM-6PM

Akron’s Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens was a private estate for the founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company F.A. Seiberling, and his family, completed in 1915. But following his death in 1955, the 70-acre estate and its five buildings became a public asset, a nonprofit museum, open to the public for tours and events such as theater performances, car shows, maker markets and more April-December.

Stan Hywet opens for the season April first, and this year’s theme is “Entertaining: You’re Invited.” An exhibit in the Manor House will give visitors a look at what life was life when the Seiberlings lived there and the many events they held in the early 20th century, even exploring on the role played by the staff. Various rooms will provide information about how the staff cooked and cleaned for the family and its guests. Guided tours are back after a two-year pandemic break, although visitors can still do a self-guided tour. Masks are now optional as well.

During April, if you buy a tour ticket and bring a non-perishable food item for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, you get a second ticket free. Stan Hywet Hall & Hardens is open Tuesday-Sunday @ 10am-6pm; last admission is 4pm.
