CPT’s Teatro Público de Cleveland Presents an Evening of Bilingual Plays in Development

Thu 3/30-Sat 4/1 @ 7PM

Is there any segment of the community Cleveland Public Theatre doesn’t serve? You’d be hard-pressed to name a more diverse arts organization anywhere in the area. Its projects (which range from conventional to experimental theater, comedy to dance, polished productions to first readings) involve black, white, Hispanic, Arab, LGBTQ+, at-risk kids, and people recovering from homelessness and addiction.

It’s long been known for its festivals of plays in various stages of development, often taking a work from a staged reading to a full-blown production.) Now, under the banner of Teatro Público de Cleveland which has been working at CPT since 2013, it’s expanding that concept to bilingual works in Spanish and English. “¡Obras en Evolución!” will feature work by Tania Benites, Ernesto Luna Camargo, Zane Flores, Obed Medina, and Selena Awesome Vicarío.

“Experience work-in-progress plays as actors and directors make bold choices with scripts in hand!” they say. And in a couple of years, you might see one of these plays full produced.

The works will be performed over three evenings. Tickets are all pay-what-you-want. Go here to reserve them.
