The Western Reserve Historical Society’s Cleveland History Center reopened to the public in late July. But if you’re not quite ready to go out to a museum yet, they’re making their new exhibit, Women & Politics: Empowered to Vote, Empowered to Lead, available in virtual form.
The exhibit, which honors both the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote and the 100th anniversary of the League of Women Votes of Greater Cleveland, looks at the role of women in politics from the suffragist movement of the 19th century and how women organized to gain the right to vote, to ho women in northeast Ohio began to enter politics, run for office and gain power of their own.
“Women and Politics will shed light on the pivotal, albeit sometimes forgotten role Northeast Ohio played in the fight for the 19th Amendment,” says WRHS president/CEO Kelly Falcone-Hall. “This exhibit will uphold our mission to inspire people to discover the unique American experience by exploring the rich history of our region.”
You can purchase the virtual exhibit on line starting Friday August 21. Go here.
