Recently, Cleveland fashion designer Valerie Mayen closed her long-running Yellowcake Shop retail space in 78th Street Studios — and now she’s getting ready for a new chapter.
She’s made several moves and this one doesn’t take her very far — back to an area she’s been before: the heart of Gordon Square.
OK, so she’s not QUITE ready to debut the new market space she’s planning, but this weekend she’s hosting a soft opening in her temporary space. The new market space will feature not only Yellowcake’s timeless, wearable but chic styles, but also 8-10 other small local businesses, the type she’s been showcasing at her special events.
She says, “We will be calling it “El Corazon.” It will be the heartbeat of handmade wonders and delectable treats. The enchanting ensemble of businesses is all set to dazzle the scene in the spring of 2024.”
Get a preview of what she’s planning this weekend at the space at 5218 Detroit Avenue, previewing the full launch in late September. The event will feature “fashion, flavors and fun,” with local vendors, “mouthwatering bites,” and discounts on fashion.
