Sat 11/18 @ 8PM

Sun 11/19 @ 4PM

Cleveland-based baroque ensemble Apollo’s Fire never seems to rest. They’ve got yet another set of concerts coming up in Northeast Ohio — after just returning from playing concerts in Chicago.

The next series is called Fire & Joy from Bach and Vivaldi, composed of contrasting pieces reflecting the different moods of baroque-era music. Frequent Apollo’s Fire soloist Debra Nagy will step forward for J.S. Bach’s Concerto in F Major for Oboe, while Apollo’s Fire violist Nicole Divall will perform on a 17th-century version of her instrument in Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Viola d’amore.

The program also features Vivaldi’s Concert in D minor for two Violins and Cello, three Bach Sinfonias and Bach’s Brandenburg no. 4 in G Major.

They’ll perform Thursday at Akron’s First United Methodist Church, Friday at Lakewood United Methodist, Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights and Sunday at United Methodist Church in University Circle. One hour before each show violinist Andrew Founts will give a pre-concert talk.
