Heights Arts’ Close Encounters concerts are held in a variety of intimate venues, often peoples’ homes in the Heights area. They feature some of the area’s elite classical musicians, including members of the Cleveland Orchestra.
The next concert in the series features four musicians, three of whom are members of the Orchestra: cellist Tanya Ell, violinist Jessica Lee and principal clarinetist Afendi Yusef. The fourth musician, pianist Dan Overly, serves as pianist for the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus, and Blossom Festival Chorus.
The program features Bela Bartok’s Contrasts for Violin, Clarinet and Piano, and Johannes Brahms’ Trio in A Minor for Clarinet, Piano and Cello. It takes place at a Shaker Heights Villa, with the exact address provided once tickets are purchased. They warn that early ticket purchase is advisable, as the venues are small and concerts often sell out.
