Cleveland’s Long Road Revives the ’60s Folk Scene at Nighttown

Long Road

Thu 8/11 @ 8PM

Cleveland’s Long Road plays infrequently. But when they do a certain type of music lover is in heaven. The six-member group features veteran musicians who have become known from other projects, including guitarist/vocalist David Budin, guitarist/vocalist/mandolin player Kevin Richards, banjo player/autoharpist/ vocalist Celia Hollander Lewis. Guitarist/vocalist Charlie Lewis, guitarist/vocalist/pedal steel player Bob Sandham and bassist Ray DeForest who does not sing.

What brings them together from time to time is a reverence for the ’60s folk revival that burst out of New York’s Greenwich Village and swept the country. They also perform other material from approximately the same era, but applying their battery of acoustic instruments to make it sound folkie. The group’s motto is “Making Old Songs New, and New Songs Sound Old,” so you know just where they are coming from.

They’ll be performing at Nighttown. Tickets are $15.
