Fri 6/5 @ 7PM
Trinity Cathedral downtown is known for its outstanding music programming, such as its free lunchtime Brownbag concerts and its public evening concerts by some of the area’s finest professional classical musicians, provided through its nonprofit Music & Art at Trinity Cathedral. These events fuel the donations that keep them going, but obviously, they’re not happening now. The entire spring Brownbag series, for instance, was cancelled due to the pandemic.
To bring attention to their programming and hopefully raise some money so it can move forward, Music & Art at Trinity Cathedral is presenting a series of free, live-streamed benefit concerts. To kick it off, The Cleveland Orchestra’s principal cellist Mark Kosower will perform the Bach Cello Suites, nos. 5, 3 and 1 on Friday June 5. He’ll be back to perform the other three — nos. 2, 4 and 6 — on Friday July 31.
These performances are part of Kosower’s Bach for Humanity campaign, which he launched in 2018 to use Bach’s music for community outreach, educational performances and recitals in and around Cleveland.
While the concerts are free, they’ll be accepting donations to be spit between Music& Art at Trinity Cathedral and Arts Cleveland for their COVID-19 relief effort on behalf of local artists.
