Creative Energy

This region’s got it. In abundance.

Brite Winter Fest celebrates our fourth season, outdoors, with a defiant, gleeful free-for-all. 94 Amps builds vacuum tube amps to power the electric guitar, Cleveland’s signature sound. CIA’s student show positively crackles with creative energy. Women are riding BMX & mountain bikes at Ray’s for Women’s Weekend, while Pose & Prose combines yoga & writing for women’s awareness on V-day. Commentators Joe Baur, Mansfield Frazier & Larry Durstin stir the pot on regional rail, Kasich’s chances and arrogance & entitlement among some of our safety forces.

As much responsible for the tone of the music as the guitars that receive all the accolades, tube amps are part of the fabric of rock and roll.

As Cleveland is a city where rock and roll resonates through its bones with every driving beat of manufacturing and every howling blast of steam, it is only fitting that its artisans revel in creating their own custom instruments and amps…

It’s all too easy to ascribe racial motivations to the members of the Cleveland Division of Fire that were recently suspended and demoted for placing a photo of a former black fire chief in a urinal and pissing on it at a Westside bar where a party was being held to celebrate the graduation of a group of new recruits from the Fire Academy…

ODOT is only a symptom because ODOT only does what the executive and legislative branches of government tell it to do. Furthermore, the Ohio constitution restricts gas tax money — almost all of of the funding ODOT receives — to only be spent on roads…
