Singer/songwriter/guitarist Madeline Finn was the winner of the 2010 High School Rock Off, with the first female-fronted band to snag that honor. She was just 16 at the time.
She went on to form the band Whiskey Hollow in her early 20s. That band gave foregrounded her raw, aggressive vocals, shot through with blues, folk and Americana influences that gave her a sound and presence with far more depth and sophistication that most performers her age.
She’s since moved on to Nashville where she’s continuing her musical career as a solo artist and released an album called Trial by Fire in 2020. And in 2021 she released a single called “Ohio,” exploring her feelings about moving away from home.
Like many performers who’ve left, she left behind fans whom she comes back to play for. And she’ll be doing so at the Music Box Supper Club this week, as part of a three-act show called “Madeline Finn and Friends.” One of those friends will be well-known to local audiences: Mikey Silas, dynamic frontman for red-hot local band Apostle Jones as well as new ensemble the Shoreline Funk All-Stars. Nashville singe/songwriter Purser also joins them.
