If you miss the old Parties in the Park, never fear — they’re still here, with the same opportunity to hang around outside downtown, eat, drink, socialize and enjoy local music.
This summer, they’re called Gigs on the Green, they happen every Wednesday from June through September, and each month, they move to a new location. In August, they’re taking place at Voinovich Bicentennial Park at the North Coast Harbor behind the Rock Hall.
This week you can hear a new local band who are catching fire: the Shoreline Funk All-Stars, an eight-piece ensemble fronted by vocalist Mikey Silas who also fronts Apostle Jones, one of the fastest rising bands in the local music scene. It seems like everything he touches explodes. While both bands have a lot of R&B and soul influences, the Shoreline Funk All-Stars’ name tells you what part of the equation they lean into.
Bring a blanket; bring food and refreshments (no bottles or cans). It’s free.
