Over a period of more than four decades, Northeast Ohio-based guitarist/composer Carl Baldassarre has established himself as one of the area’s premiere progressive rock musicians, performing with bands such as Syzygy and Abraxas. Recently he’s been leading an ensemble that performs interpretations of Led Zeppelin tunes, exposing more music fans to his outstanding guitar skills. Then last year, he released an album of his own music titled Grand Boulevard, which he’s performed live in several different formats.
He’s really ramping up his schedule of live performances, which includes shows by the Baldassarre Rock Orchestra, a nine-piece ensemble enhanced by outstanding production. It performs layered, expansive arrangements of classic tunes by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin. The Beatles. Stevie Wonder and more, as well as tunes from Grand Boulevard.
You can catch them this weekend at a new/old venue in the Waterloo Arts District, the Treelawn Music Hall, formerly the large event space of the Slovenian Workmen’s Home. Get tickets here.
