Gillen&Turk

Wed 4/15 @ 8PM

The Barking Spider’s schedule is packed with monthly appearances by gifted and beloved local acoustic/roots/folk/jazz/bluegrass/Americana artists. But it’s also occasionally a stop on a tour form some out-of-town artist, bringing an unexpected change-up to the schedule.

The Hudson Valley-based duo of Fred Gillen Jr. and Matt Turk both have solo careers and new albums out, but they’ve also been performing as Gillen & Turk for the last decade. They’re out on the road now on their Love Revival tour, promoting Turk’s Cold Revival and Gillen’s Wage Love. They’ll be at the Spider performing tunes form each as well as tunes they’ve recorded together accompanying their folksy roots music on mandolin, guitar, harmonica and “Gillen’s famous washboard.”

As always at the Spider, the performance is free; they pass the hat for the performers and of course, you can buy a copy of their albums.

After their set, another Spider regular, Tom Shaper, will play with Tom Shaper and friends. That’s at 10pm.
