It’s been about 15 years since Kristine Jackson started flitting around the edges of the area music scene, playing a little trumpet behind some performer or another or sitting in on a blues jam night, adding some rich, full-bodied vocals or guitar.
In the last decade, she’s really made an impact, fronting her own band and drawing on the full range of her talents to produce her own distinctive version of rocking blues. Her latest album, Simply KJ, which came out last year, shows how she’s grown as a musician in the time she’s been working out on the local scene.
She’ll be headlining a show at the Akron Civic Theatre as part of its intimate cabaret series. It’s coproduced by the Northeast Ohio Blues Association.
