Sun 3/15 @ 4PM
With St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Tuesday, you’re going to find a lot of clubs expanding the celebration into the previous weekend.
The Music Box Supper Club, for instance, will get you started early with the Portersharks, a quartet who have been playing Irish music around town for some three decades and who are regulars at Irish restaurant the Harp on the near west side. Founding members guitarist/vocalist Bill Chambers and fiddler Francis Quinn are joined by percussionist Brendan Carr and an authentic Irish native, Patrick Custy on Irish wood flute.
The club has paired them up with a younger traditional Irish band, the Roundabouts, for a nice late afternoon/early evening warm-up for Tuesday’s big event.
It’s one of the Music Box’s Lucky 7 shows, where $7 gets you in and gets you a specialty cocktail as well. We’re betting tonight’s might be green.
