Cleveland drummer/composer/educator Paul Stranahan is known for leading and participating in adventurous ensembles that often push jazz into avant-garde territory.
Stranahan isn’t content to just sit at a drum kit either. Rather he explores the range of music that can be made by percussion instruments. Among the instruments he works with a suspended gongs and Tibetan singing bowls, using these ancient tools to create contemporary music.
He’ll be demonstrating their range in a program at the Lakewood Public Library.
It’s free.
