Duo Plays Beethoven for Cleveland Chamber Music Society at Plymouth Church

SteveIsserlis

Tue 3/10 @ 7:30PM

British cellist Steven Isserlis is known for his wide musical range and his wide range of musical enthusiasms. He performs as a solo artist, as part of chamber groups and with orchestras. He loves new and old music, both obscure and well-known, and sometimes performs with period instrument orchestras. He’s also got sharp sense of humor and a passion for turning kids on to music, which led to him writing a couple of children’s books and stories about musical instruments.

One of those books is Why Beethoven Threw the Stew and Lots More Stories About the Lives of Great Composers. When he comes to Cleveland to perform at Plymouth Church under the auspices of the Cleveland Chamber Music Society, he’ll be slinging Beethoven (but presumably no stew) at the audience all evening, including his Sonata No. 1 in F, Sonata No. 5 in D, 12 Variations Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen, and his Sonata No. 3 in A major. He’ll be joined by Robert Levin on fortepiano.

Tickets are $30.
