Cleveland heavy metal quintet Deadiron is on the rise. Formed in 2010 by vocalist Alex Van Hess, the band has been honing its sound, which draws on a combination of balls-to-the-wall power and an aggressive melodic sense, around the region. They combine influences of classic metal bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica with those of the following generation like Alice in Chains and in Flames.
They released their debut CD Out of the Rust and the Ruin in 2012. Now they’re dropping their long-awaited second Into the Fray with a big metal blowout at the Agora. The lineup also includes This Is a Lifetime, Visionaires, Craic, Hawkeye and Purveyors of Fiction, as well as comedy performances by Brian Kenny, Dave Flynt, Walter Hemmelgarn and Joe Whelan.
It’s the kickoff of a big year for the band which includes a performance at this summer’s Wacken Open Air in Germany, one of Europe’s biggest and most legendary outdoor heavy metal festivals.
