Cleveland jazz sax player Bobby Selvaggio isn’t one for getting put in a box and staying there. He collaborates with different players and ensembles, stretching his range in performance as he does in his day job as the director of the jazz studies program at Kent State University.
One of his ensembles is the No Words Quintet, which plays high-energy modern jazz composed by the group’s members. In addition to Selvaggio, they include pianist Theron Brown, bassist Cory Todd, trombonist Sam Blakeslee and drummer Dustin May.
When they perform at the Music Box Supper Club, the quintet will be joined by a special guest performer, Atlanta-based guitarist/composer Jacob Deaton.
Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
