It seems like this year there’s a musical Christmas in town for every taste — from classical to Irish to gospel to bluegrass. We’ve heard a lot of it before, but a Creole Christmas celebration isn’t something we get every year.
Accordionist/vocalist Jeffery Broussard and his band the Creole Cowboys will be coming up from Louisiana (of course!) to show Clevelanders how they celebrate the holidays down there. Although Broussard, like many of the current generation of zydeco stars, has spent some time exploring how to combine the traditional rural Louisiana sounds with more contemporary rock and roll, at the bottom, he is a respecter of the traditions he picked up playing with his father’s band, Delton Broussard & the Lawtell Playboys.
Expect a lively evening when Broussard and his band put a zydeco spin Christmas music interspersed with genre classics at the Music Box Supper Club. Mo’Mojo mini, a scaled-down version of Akron zydeco band Mo’Mojo, opens.
Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
