Another season of the the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD broadcasts just in the nick of time for opera-starved Clevelanders.
The first offering is Verdi’s Macbeth, and it will feature an operatic superstar, Anna Netrebko, in the role of Lady Macbeth. Željko Lucic plays her titular husband, Joseph Calleja as Macduff and René Pape as Banquo. As anyone even slightly familiar with the Shakespeare original knows, Macbeth is the perfect source material for opera, with violence, murder, ambition, passion run amok, and even witches.
