Telamon describe themselves as “alternative rock from Akron, Ohio,” which is vague to the point of meaninglessness. In fact, the two-guitar/bass/drums ensemble featuring vocalist/guitarist Daniel Kearsey up front do earnest anthemic rock with a strand of folk rock running through it — the sort of thing that was indeed dubbed “alternative” back in the ’90s when bands like Live, the Goo Goo Dolls, and Our Lady Peace were popular.
Telamon has actually only been Telamon since early this year, following the recording of a seven-song EP called Lawrence & Diane under the name Daniel. All four current members of Telamon played on it, along with outside contributions from Speedbumps cellist Sam Kristoff, vocalist Melissa Gentile, and bassist Nate Vaill and pianist Seth Vaill from A Band Called Ashes.
Conveniently, that band will be on the bill with Telamon when they celebrate the release of the EP at Musica in Akron. Townhouse Captains also play.
Admission is $10.
