Akron ’70s Rockers the Bizarros Come Together for Knight Stage Show

Fri 11/26 @ 8PM

As is fairly well known from the story of Devo, Akron was a hotbed of creative underground music in the mid-late 1970s.

One of a number of the scene’s bands — all of which were significantly different — was the Bizarros, a group of friends who originally came together while still in school. Playing their own version of art punk, they released an album on Mercury in 1978, along with some DIY releases on member Nick Nicholis’ indie label, Clone Records.

The band barely survived into the 80s before disbanding and going on with their lives. But by the early 2000s they were doing reunion shows and releasing new music, with Can’t Find Your Way Up Town From Here released in 2003 on the revived Clone label and a 2018 split album with the Bad Dudes called From Akron II.

The band will be coming together for a their first show in a while at Akron Civic Theatre’s intimate Knight Stage. Tickets are $20. Go to akroncivic.com to get them.
